| Ice Hockey, Boys Head Coach | | Job Summary: The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the varsity program, including the supervision, training, development, and evaluation of student-athletes and assistant coaches. This individual will develop and implement practice plans, game strategies, off-season programming, and skill development opportunities that promote individual and team success. The coach is expected to cultivate a culture of accountability, sportsmanship, discipline, and respect while prioritizing the physical, social, and emotional well-being of student-athletes. The successful candidate must possess exceptional communication and organizational skills to effectively collaborate between three school-districts and their athletic departments. The coach will actively recruit and retain student-athletes, strengthen relationships with youth hockey organizations, and promote the growth and long-term sustainability of the program Duties and Responsibilities: - Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Coordinate the development, promotion and recruitment of the Boy’s Ice Hockey program.
- Hold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the Boy’s Ice Hockey program.
- Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
- Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.
- Hold a preseason meeting with all student athletes and parents before the first official game.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.
- Maintain and secure all ice hockey equipment.
- Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all athletic equipment.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Represent the Sweet Home Central School District and the Boy’s Ice Hockey program in a professional manner.
- Provide leadership for student-athletes that inspires them to achieve success.
- A successful candidate is expected to be available Monday-Saturday afternoon/evening for games and practice.
